absolutely amazing location, SPA is brilliant. Best option if you after walks in woods. We had a very pleasant and relaxing time.
for some reason it was a bit hot in our room so our first night wasn't very comfortable.
Myself and my girlfriend booked a 3 day break at the Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were exceptional, attentive and appeared to really enjoy their jobs which was apparent at all times. As a result you were given the feeling that they were only too happy to help you and further aided in the making you feel relaxed. The hotel was very comfortable and though we did not engage in any of the Spa treatments we took full advantage of the Hot tub, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Sauna, Foot Spa and swimming pool. This break was aranged as a birthday gift to a country lass who now lifes a stressful life in the city and boy was it the perfect tonic. If only we could have stayed longer!
Zilcho McNowt, I cannot fault the experience. We enjoyed a perfect stay which was made all the better by perfect weather, I love it when a plan comes together.
The staff were quirky and friendly and we liked that approach over the run of the mill hotel staff. Good facilities, lovely spa.
Odd comment, but the duvet made a lot of noise if you moved.
Stunning setting with views of deer and horses grazing on surrounding grassland with the forest as a backdrop. Excellent spa facilities and highlight would have to be outdoor hot-tub in the evening under the stars.
Bathroom was cramped, damp and smelt of mildew, although mainly used the spa facilities which were excellent.
The Spa is great, as are the ladies working there. And the outside hot tub is fantastic.
I wasn't too happy with there not being a showerhead bracket or shower curtain - you had to hold it yourself all the time and invariably got water all over the floor. Also, the £13 burger is a huge.....disappointment. And no Guinness!
the spa range of facilities were superb ,especially, relaxing in the hot tub gazing up at the stars at night .We all appreciated the peace and quiet of this rural location and liked looking out at the deer and horses grazing contentedly on the fields surrounding the hotel. We all enjoyed the feeling of being in the New forest with direct access. The historic house also made this a memorable, distinctive hotel .We appreciated the excellent variety of places to sit in the daytime,, both inside and in the grounds,so we could choose diferent places to gather to socialise and chat or just sit alone. and destress
The service was too slow in the dining room which spoilt our dining experience. The dinner was expensive and we did not think that it was worth it. We resented that certain items cost extra and we think that this policy should be reviewed. We were amazed that the dinner menu remained the same every night so we only ate in the hotel once. There is a new catering manager which should sort this al out !!.the public rooms and corridors were very cold at night so guests went out or to the spa or to bed so be prepared .
The spa is just lovely - sitting in the outside jacuzzi and watching the deer was really relaxing.
The food in the evening was not great, and they struggled a bit when it was a bit busy at breakfast. It seemed like they were under new management or something - so it's probably just a transition thing.I'd consider organising somewhere else for dinner though.
enjoyed a romatic break away for the weekend. lovely hotel and fantastic spa. rooms were comfortable and views were great. Room needed to be cleaned again as the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned, but once it was cleaned it was great. we took our dog and he was made welcome.
room not cleaned first time round, needed to re cleaned.
Quality of spa, food, location
Breakfast too late, minimal bar staff, broken steam room
The spar facilities and staff were very good as was the room but the general impression from the reception area was not.
We thought the modern bar and ground floor was a bit uninspiring although the older reception rooms were good.
nice location but lacks warmth or character
Good views over the surrounding country. Friendly spa. good Swimming pool. Most comfortable bed and pillows.
The restaurnat food was good but, we had a far to long wait for the food. Dissapointed in the wine list. ppor selection and screw top wine not a good idea for a restaurant. The outdoor pool was closed and looked as though it hadn't been used all summer.
Location is superband very relaxing, spa facilities a real bonus and the restaurant food was excellent
We did not enjoy our stay, the rugs by our bed were extremely dangerous they had no grip under them so we both went flying when we got out of bed, the hotels decor needs tidying up as there a patches on the ceilings making it look tired and panelling missing. Our bathroom was tired loking. The meals at the hotel were awful especially the breakfast that came out like it had been dumped on your plate and the wine is totally over priced. We chose the hotel as it was too be luxury but it was not and ruined our honeymoon.
Having to kneel down in the bath to have a shower.
